Getting Started
It starts with a free 30-minute consultation — no commitment required. We'll talk through where your books stand, what you need, and which plan makes sense. After that, if it's a good fit, we'll handle the onboarding and get to work. Most clients are fully set up within a week.
That's one of the most common situations we work with. Whether you're months behind, have never really categorized anything properly, or switched software halfway through the year — we've seen it. We'll assess the situation, give you a clear and honest cleanup estimate, and get your records into reliable shape before moving into monthly work. Messy books are not a dealbreaker.
Most clients are up and running within 5–7 business days. We'll get access to your accounts, review what's there, and establish the process. For catch-up clients with significant backlog, we'll give you a realistic timeline upfront before any work begins.
314 Bookkeeping is based in St. Louis and built for St. Louis businesses — but all the work is done remotely, so geography within the metro area isn't a barrier. If you prefer an in-person conversation to get started, we can arrange that too.
Pricing & Plans
Because bookkeeping cost depends on your business — primarily transaction volume, number of accounts, and complexity. A plumber with one bank account and 40 transactions a month is a very different engagement than a retailer with 300 transactions across multiple accounts. The ranges give you an honest ballpark before we talk. Your exact rate is confirmed during your free consultation.
No hidden fees. If your books need cleanup before we start monthly work, that's billed separately — and we'll tell you exactly what it costs before any work begins. After that, your monthly rate is fixed. You'll never open an invoice and be surprised.
We ask for 30 days notice. No long-term contracts, no cancellation penalties. If the relationship isn't working, we want to make it easy to leave — and we'll provide a clean handoff so your records are in good shape no matter what.
How It Works
We work primarily in QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you don't have it, we can help you get set up. If you're already using QBO, we'll work directly in your existing file. If you're on a different platform, we'll discuss what makes sense during your consultation.
Yes — and that's the point. We're not trying to replace your CPA; we're making their job easier. We maintain clean, organized books throughout the year and produce a CPA-ready year-end package so your tax professional has everything they need — without the scramble. If you don't have a CPA yet, we're happy to refer you to someone we trust.
A bookkeeper keeps your financial records current, accurate, and organized month to month. A CPA prepares tax returns and provides higher-level accounting guidance and strategy. Think of 314 Bookkeeping as your financial foundation — we do the ongoing work all year so your CPA can focus on what they're trained for at tax time. The two roles work best together.
We connect through your QuickBooks Online file and bank read-only access — the same way most modern bookkeeping relationships work. We don't need your banking login credentials. Everything is done through secure integrations and accountant-access permissions. We'll walk you through the setup step by step.

No — and that's intentional. 314 Bookkeeping focuses exclusively on bookkeeping so we can do it exceptionally well. We maintain the kind of clean, organized records that make tax time straightforward for your CPA. Trying to do both usually means doing neither as well as it should be done.
Yes. We use secure, professional-grade tools for all account access and data management. Your financial information is never shared with third parties. Confidentiality is foundational to this work — we take it seriously in every engagement.
Deliberately limited. 314 Bookkeeping is a focused practice, not a high-volume operation. Keeping the client roster manageable is what allows us to offer a dedicated bookkeeper — not a rotating team — and respond promptly when questions come up mid-month. If we're at capacity, we'll be upfront about it.
Small businesses with 1–15 employees, typically generating $100K–$2M in annual revenue. Our clients include trades and contractors, restaurants and retail, professional services, e-commerce businesses, and health and wellness providers.
